Bike Classifications

CLASSIFICATION: CATEGORY 0
CHILDREN'S BIKES CHILDREN'S MOUNTAIN BIKE TIRE SIZES 12"-24"
For use on solid surfaces such as:
- Asphalted paths that are not used by motor vehicles, as well as cycle paths.
- Paths that are paved with sand, gravel or similar materials (e.g. forest roads, field paths) and are not used by motor vehicles.
- The wheels should always remain in contact with the ground (no jumps, no riding on a balance bike, no braking maneuvers in which the rear wheel loses contact with the ground).
Parental responsibility:
It is the responsibility of the parents or guardians to use the bicycle properly, to instruct the children on how to use it correctly and to regularly check that the bicycle is functioning properly.

CLASSIFICATION: CATEGORY 1
ROAD BIKES, TRIATHLON AND TIME TRIAL BIKES, FITNESS AND URBAN BIKES
For driving on solid surfaces such as:
- Asphalted roads and cycle paths
- The wheels should always remain in contact with the ground (no jumps, no riding on a balance bike, no braking maneuvers in which the rear wheel loses contact with the ground).

CLASSIFICATION: CATEGORY 2
CROSS AND TREKKING BIKES (ALSO AS HYBRID), CYCLOCROSS BIKES, GRAVEL BIKES (ALSO AS HYBRID), FITNESS BIKES
For driving on solid surfaces such as:
- Asphalted roads and cycle paths,
- Paths paved with sand, gravel or similar materials (e.g. forest roads, field paths)
- Paved hiking trails with few roots, thresholds, stones and ledges
- The wheels should always maintain contact with the ground, or only lose contact with the ground for a short time when encountering small bumps such as roots (no jumps, no riding on a balance bike, no braking maneuvers where the rear wheel loses contact with the ground).

CLASSIFICATION: CATEGORY 3
MOUNTAIN BIKES WITH SUSPENSION FORK MAX. 120 MM TRAVEL (ALSO AS HYBRID), CHILDREN'S MOUNTAIN BIKES WHEEL SIZE 26"/27.5"/29", CHILDREN'S MOUNTAIN BIKE WITH CARBON FRAME WHEEL SIZE 24"
For trips on routes such as:
- Asphalted roads and cycle paths
- Paths paved with sand, gravel or similar materials (e.g. forest roads, field paths)
- Paved and unpaved hiking trails where roots, thresholds, stones and ledges are more common
- The wheels should always maintain contact with the ground or only lose contact with the ground for a short time when encountering uneven surfaces such as roots (no jumps, no riding on a balance bike, no braking maneuvers in which the rear wheel loses contact with the ground).
Attention: Please note that when using rear stands, mudguards, luggage racks and bicycle trailers, the application area of the model always shifts to application category 2.

CLASSIFICATION: CATEGORY 4
MOUNTAIN BIKES FULL SUSPENSION WITH MAX. 160 / 170 MM TRAVEL (ALSO AS HYBRID) / MOUNTAIN BIKES WITH SUSPENSION FORK MAX. 130 MM TRAVEL (ALSO AS HYBRID)
For trips on:
- Asphalted roads and cycle paths
- Paths paved with sand, gravel or similar materials (e.g. forest roads, field paths)
- Paved and unpaved hiking trails where roots, thresholds, stones and larger ledges are more common
- Rough, unpaved terrain with occasional jumps of up to 0.5 meters
- The wheels should always maintain contact with the ground or only lose contact with the ground for a short time when riding on uneven surfaces such as roots (no riding on a balance bike, no braking maneuvers in which the rear wheel loses contact with the ground).
Attention: Please note that when using rear stands, mudguards, luggage racks and bicycle trailers, the application area of the model always shifts to application category 2.

CLASSIFICATION: CATEGORY 5
MOUNTAIN BIKE FULL SUSPENSION WITH MAX. 170 / 190 MM TRAVEL
As in category 4, also for journeys on/in:
- Very rough and partly blocked terrain
- Occasional jumps of up to 1 meter
- Designated sports and bike parks (occasionally).
Due to the higher loads, bicycles in this category should be thoroughly checked for possible damage after each ride.
Attention: Please note that when using rear stands, mudguards, luggage racks and bicycle trailers, the application area of the model always shifts to application category 2.

CLASSIFICATION: CATEGORY 6
DIRTBIKES AND DOWNHILLBIKES / DOWNHILLBIKES FULL SUSPENSION WITH ≥ 200 MM TRAVEL
As in category 5, also for journeys on/in:
- Official downhill routes and sports and bike parks.
Due to the high loads they are subjected to, bicycles in this category should be thoroughly checked for possible damage after each ride.
